battery management system is the power battery steward, BMS is composed of various sensors, actuators, curing controllers with various algorithms and signal lines. It is mainly used to realize the status detection, safety protection, charging control, energy control management, balance management, thermal management, information management and so on.

There are two main types of BMS: distributed and centralized.

BMS battery management system function details:

1. Data acquisition: accurately obtain the working conditions of power batteries and better implement management countermeasures;

2. State detection: use established algorithms and strategies to estimate the state of the battery pack, including SOC, SOH, SOP and energy state;

3, safety protection: voltage (over charge), under voltage (over discharge), smoke, over current, ultra-high temperature, short circuit fault, loose joints, insulation capacity reduction and electrolyte leakage, also involves sensors, actuators and controllers and other electronic components of the fault diagnosis, protect battery safety;

4. Charging control: according to the real-time characteristics of the power battery, the temperature and the power level of the charger, the charger is controlled to charge the battery safely;

5. Energy control: to cope with the dynamic load caused by complex vehicle conditions such as urgent acceleration, urgent braking, downhill and so on, rationally control the energy output of power battery and the energy recovery of regenerative braking to achieve the best performance of the vehicle;

6. Balanced management: due to the accumulation of errors in the production process, transportation and storage as well as electronic components, inconsistencies between power batteries are unavoidable, so active or passive balanced methods are adopted to reduce the inconsistency of batteries;

7, thermal management: the battery is not only affected by the environmental temperature, but also by its own charge and discharge heat production, need to heat or heat dissipation according to the situation, to ensure that the power battery in the most suitable temperature work, play the power battery performance, prolong the service life;

8. Information management: BMS needs to integrate multiple functional modules and reasonably coordinate the communication operation between each module. Due to the large amount of running data, BMS needs to process and screen the running data of power batteries, store key data, and maintain communication with the vehicle controller and other network nodes
